William and Mary sophomore
Rad Gunzenhauser (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was named Runner of the Week on Tuesday by the Colonial Athletic Association, after winning the Tribe's season-opener on Saturday. It is the first weekly honor of Gunzenhauser's career.
The conference runner-up at 10,000m last spring, Gunzenhauser opened the fall season by winning the 5K at the Spider Alumni Open on Saturday. He ran 15:01.4 for the victory, ahead of 68 other runners from five schools (including W&M) and one club team. It was the first victory of Gunzenhauser's collegiate career, including both cross country and track and field.
William and Mary is back on the trails next weekend, hosting the 54th Annual W&M Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15.
