MOBILE, Ala. (Aug. 24, 2012) - William
and Mary standout cornerback B.W. Webb has been selected to the Senior Bowl
Watch List. The list includes the nation's top seniors and NFL prospects from
around the nation, as the top 100 seniors in the country will be invited to
participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl, scheduled for Jan. 26 at Ladd-Peebles
Stadium in Mobile, Ala.
"The Senior Bowl is very pleased to announce
our first-ever 'official' Watch List," Senior Bowl Executive Director Phil
Savage said in a press release. "We want both college and pro football fans to
enjoy tracking the players on our list as they begin their journey towards the
Senior Bowl and the 2013 NFL Draft. We have included prospects from almost
every level of the college game and look forward to monitoring their progress
throughout the upcoming season."
Webb is one of just 29 players on the Senior
Bowl Watch List from a non-FBS school.
While the start of the 2012 campaign is still
a week away, Webb has already collected a number of accolades during the
preseason. In addition to being selected to the Buchanan Award Watch List,
which includes the top 20 defensive players at the FCS level, he was chosen as
a preseason All-American by The Sports Network, College Sporting News and Phil Steele.
He also garnered preseason All-CAA distinction at the league's annual media day
last month.
The Newport News, Va., native continued to
establish himself as one of the country's top cornerbacks last season and
earned first-team all-conference honors for the second consecutive year. Last
fall, he finished the season with 40 tackles, 3.0 tackles for a loss and two
interceptions.
One of the
most-decorated players in Colonial Athletic Association history, Webb has
earned six all-conference postseason honors during the past three seasons.
During that time, he has totaled 11 career interceptions and currently ranks
tied for eighth on W&M's all-time list.
The Tribe will
open the 2012 season when it plays at Maryland on Sept. 1.
