Tribe Baseball Downs Colonials, 1-0, in Weather Shortened Affair

ARLINGTON, Va. - The William and Mary baseball team defeated George Washington, 1-0, Tuesday night in a weather-shortened contest from Barcroft Park.  After W&M plated a run in the seventh, the College held the Colonials scoreless in the bottom half as lighting suspended play moments before the eighth inning was set to get underway.  Approximately an hour after play was suspended the contest was called with the College picking up the, 1-0, victory.  For the year, the Tribe improves to 30-23 overall, while George Washington falls to 20-32 on the season.

On the mound, freshman LHP Jason Inghram (3-2) was impressive as he earned his third win of the season.  Inghram worked seven scoreless innings, allowing just four hits while tallying nine strikeouts.  George Washington's junior RHP J.T. Wauford (4-4) was solid in the loss, surrendering just one earned run in seven innings of action.

Sophomore third baseman Ryan Lindemuth went 1-for-3 with the night's only RBI to lead the W&M bats.  Sophomore catcher Devin White tallied a hit and a run scored in three-at-bats.  Senior left fielder Tadd Bower and junior second baseman Kevin Nutter each recorded a hit.

After both starting pitchers were dealing throughout, W&M got on the scoreboard as it plated a run in the top half of the seventh.  White led off the frame with a single to center field.  Junior center fielder Ryan Brown then advanced White to second base with a ground out to first.  With one out and White on second, Nutter laced a single through the left side and in the process pushed the Manassas, Va., native to third.  Lindemuth proceeded to plate White with a fielder's choice to second base as White scored the game's lone run.

W&M baseball will conclude the 2012 regular-season on the road this weekend as it travels to Hempstead, N.Y., for a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series against Hofstra.  The first pitch of Friday's doubleheader is scheduled to get underway at 11 a.m.  Fans can follow the action online at TribeAthletics.com with live stats.
