NEW KENT, Va. - For
the fourth-straight season, the William and Mary Tribe baseball team and head
coach Frank Leoni participated in Reading Day at New Kent Elementary School on
December 8. The Tribe baseball team and
staff read books and interacted with the school children, ranging from first to
fifth grade.
"This has become
an annual event for us and we really enjoy spending time with the children,"
coach Leoni remarked following the event. "The children are always
excited to have us, especially as we approach the Holidays. To see their
smiling faces and to hear the interaction between them and our players is truly
priceless."
The Reading Day event is just the latest example of the Tribe
baseball team's continued presence in and around the Williamsburg
community. Earlier this year, the team
and staff volunteer at the JDRF Walk for Diabetes and also hosted a pair of
fitness nights at the ARC of Greater Williamsburg.
