The William and Mary volleyball team fell Friday night on the road at Northeastern, losing 3-0 in Colonial Athletic Association action. The Tribe is now 8-14 overall and 2-8 in the league, while the Huskies improved to a conference-best 17-4 overall and 7-2 in CAA play.
The Tribe's night was led by junior middle
Shaylin O'Connell (Leesburg, Va.), who had seven kills on a team-best .429 attack, and also provided a match-high with three blocks. Two of her stops came on solo efforts, tying her career-best, and O'Connell is now just one block-assist from 100 in her career. Sophomore
Celine Alasomuka (Centreville, Va.) was also a defensive-leader for the Tribe, providing a customarily solid effort of 10 digs and a service ace.
Other notables included the middle duo of
Monika Stanciauskas (Wheaton, Ill.) and
Alexandra Ciaccio (Houston, Texas), who each provided five kills to match the output of senior outside
Brooke Bauernfeind (Ashburn, Va.). Ciaccio also provided six digs on the night, while Stanciauskas had two blocks (one solo, one assist). Freshman setter
Carolina Rivas (Orlando, Fla.) had a relatively quiet night but still approached a double-double of 21 assists and seven digs.
William and Mary will spend the night traveling down to Hempstead, N.Y., and will take on Hofstra tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
