William and Mary Falls to UNC Wilmington, 82-59

WILMINGTON, NC - The William and Mary women's basketball team turned in a great performance at the line Sunday afternoon, but fell to UNC Wilmington 82-59. This was the ninth game and midpoint of the Colonial Athletic Association season.

The Tribe was led in the game by 16 points apiece from junior Taysha Pye (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore Emily Correal (Venetia, Pa.). Correal hit on all eight of her attempts, tying the school record for free-throw percentage in a game most recently set by Sarah Stroh '07 against George Mason in the 2007 CAA Tournament. The sophomore also had six rebounds and two blocks in the game. Pye nearly had her second double-double in a row, adding a game-high nine rebounds and three assists to her 16 points.

Also scoring in double-digits for the second game in a row was freshman Kaitlyn Mathieu (Waterboro, Maine), hitting a turnaround jumper in the lane with three seconds remaining to reach 10 points and five rebounds in the game. Senior Katy Oblinger (Altoona, Pa.) shot 3-5 with two three-pointers for her 10 points, and added two assists and a steal.

William and Mary continues on the road for the next week, heading to Long Island to face Hofstra at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 6th, before continuing on to Towson Sunday at 2 p.m.
