Former Tribe Pitcher Bill Bray Promoted to Majors by the Cincinnati Reds

Cincinnati, Ohio - After working his way back from injury, former William and Mary Tribe pitcher Bill Bray was recalled by the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. The lefty will be used out of the bullpen for the current National League Central Division leading Reds.

In the minors this season, in both AA and AAA, Bray has been very impressive, not allowing a run in his 10.1 innings pitched. Bray only allowed three hits during his stint in the minors, striking out 16 while only walking three.

Bray made his Major League debut in 2006 with the Washington Nationals after being drafted in the first round out of the College by the Montreal Expos in 2004. Bray was then traded to the Reds in an eight-player deal in July of 2006 and quickly excelled with the Reds.

In the majors, Bray has been more than solid, posting a career ERA of 3.86 in 130 appearances. For hit career, Bray has posted a record of 8-7 while also recording three saves.

At the College, Bray was a force out of the bullpen for the Tribe for three seasons. For his career, Bray posted an ERA of 3.53 and recorded 11 saves, both ranking him second all-time at the College. Bray also struck out 192 batters over his career, placing him seventh all-time at W&M. Bray was also a two-time Second-Team All-CAA honoree, also being named All-East Region in 2004.
