Big Innings Hurt Baseball in Loss to Old Dominion

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Old Dominion used a pair of six-run innings to defeat William & Mary 15-3 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at Plumeri Park.

Louie Bartletti homered for the Tribe (12-19), his first of the season, a game-tying solo blast in the bottom of the fourth.

However, Old Dominion (15-17) struck for six runs in the sixth to break open the tie game. The Monarchs would add another six-spot in the eighth to extend their advantage.

W&M got on the board in the first inning when Matthew Kosuda laced a two-run single to center field. The Monarchs responded with two runs in the top of the second before hanging another in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.

Bartletti's homer tied the game briefly before ODU rallied to take control. Bartletti went 2-for-3 with a run and RBI.

Hank Lippman pitched 1 ⅔ scoreless innings out of the bullpen, recording three strikeouts.

Ethan Hubbell was the winning pitcher for Old Dominion. Connor Jernigan took the loss for the Tribe.
