MINNEAPOLIS, Minn (Dec. 8) - Former
William and Mary standout quarterback RJ Archer has signed a deal with the
Minnesota Vikings and will join the organization as a member of the practice
squad.
Archer was previously with the Vikings during the team's offseason program this
summer before being waived in late June. Last month, Archer signed a contract
with the Spokane Shock of the Arena Football League, which is slated to begin
its 2011 season in March.
En route to leading the Tribe to an 11-3 record in 2009 and a trip to the NCAA
Semifinals, Archer earned second-team all-conference honors. The Earlysville,
Va., native ranked second in the Colonial Athletic Association in both passing
yards per game (198.4) and total yards per game (216.6).
