Box Score
The College was able to create more chances in the match, with eight of 13 shots coming on-frame against five of 12 for Hofstra, but the opposing goalkeeper had her best game of the year and was able to stop all eight attempts. Senior
Danielle Scissom (Virginia Beach, Va.) and freshman
Taylor Gladey (Mountaintop, Pa.) each totaled three shots with two on-goal to lead the offense, which also saw a pair of on-goal attempts from
Mikala Savaides (Burke, Va.) and
Maria Caro (Martinsville, N.J.).
Hofstra led 2-0 after the first half, gaining goals on the rebound of a blocked shot in the 22nd minute and on a designed play in the 29th. The Tribe defense stiffened considerably after that, however, and alongside an active attack kept the Green and Gold very much in the match until a penalty stroke in the 63rd minute put Hofstra up three with just seven minutes to go.
William and Mary returns to action on Sunday afternoon, when the Tribe faces No. 20 Drexel in Philadelphia at noon.
