Williamsburg - Former Tribe men's basketball standout Tom Jasper (1969-71) was named the W&M 2008 Colonial Athletic Association Legend. The league's legends were recognized at the CAA Awards Banquet on March 6, and during the 2008 Aeropostale CAA Men's Basketball Championship at the Richmond Coliseum, March 7-10.

Jasper became the seventh Tribe legend recognized by the CAA, joining Ben Pomeroy (2002), John Mahoney (2003), Thomas Roberts (2004), Martin Morris (2005), Michael Strayhorn (2006) and Scott Whitley (2007). The CAA Legend classes include men's and women's basketball players from each of the 12 CAA member institutions. Those players not only excelled on the basketball court during their careers, but have gone on to achieve greatness in the business and professional world.

Jasper spent two seasons in a Tribe uniform after transferring from Frederick College in Portsmouth, Va. He averaged 18.2 points per game (982 total) over his W&M career to go along with 8.2 rebounds (444) and a field goal percentage of 41.4 percent. His career scoring average ranks as the fifth highest in Tribe history, while his rebounds average was the 10th best in the program's annals.

As a senior in 1971, Jasper was a team co-captain and led the Tribe in scoring (19.2), rebounding (8.6) and field goal percentage (42.6 percent). He was named the Southern Conference co-Player of the Year along with garnering First-Team All-Southern Conference and All-Southern Conference Tournament team accolades. He scored 519 points as a senior, which ranks as the 12th-best single-season total in W&M history. As a junior, Jasper averaged 17.1 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Jasper led Frederick College to a Small College National title as a sophomore, before transferring to W&M. He currently works as the Vice President of Marketing at Cavanaugh Press, Inc., in Baltimore, Md.
