Frank Leoni has announced the hiring of
Adam Taylor and
Jad Prachniak as assistant baseball coaches at William and Mary.
Taylor joins the Tribe staff after spending the last three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Richmond, where he worked primarily with the outfielders and headed the Spiders recruiting efforts. At William and Mary, he will head the recruiting efforts as well as work with the catchers, assist Leoni with the hitters and baserunners and assist with administrative responsibilities.
Prior to joining the Spiders, Taylor was the assistant coach at Guilford College for two seasons and Greensboro College one year. At Guilford, Taylor was responsible for hitting and infield defense instruction. During his tenure at Greensboro, Taylor served as a baseball assistant and strength and conditioning coach.
Taylor, a native of Richmond, VA, lettered four years as a third baseman at Randolph-Macon College. He garnered Virginia Sports Information Directors' All-State honors as a junior before earning his bachelor's degree in economics and business in 1999. He and his wife, Julie, were married in July.
Prachniak joins the Tribe staff after serving as the pitching coach at the The Prout School while serving as a volunteer assistant for Leoni at Rhode Island. Prachniak will serve as the Tribe's pitching coach and will assist with recruiting.
A four-year letterwinner for the Rams, Prachniak compiled a career record of 3-5 with his best season coming in his junior year, 2003, in which he went 2-1 with a 3.48 ERA, the lowest among Rhode Island starting pitchers. He posted the lowest batting average against at .243 and was the only Ram pitcher not to allow a home run as the Rhode Island won the Atlantic 10 Eastern Division Championship. As a senior in 2004, Prachniak served as a team captain that won the Atlantic 10 regular season title.
At The Prout School, Prachniak was part of the coaching staff that included Rhode Island All-American Mike Labarbera that was named the state Division III Coaching Staff of the Year.
Prachniak, who was a Babe Ruth All-Star teammate with current Tampa Bay Devil Rays outfielder Rocco Baldelli, earned a B.S. in kinesiology from Rhode Island in 2005.
