RICHMOND, Va. — William & Mary women's soccer senior midfielder Paige Seitz was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career, the league announced Monday.

Seitz earned the honor after scoring twice in the Tribe's 5-1 victory at American on Sunday in W&M's lone match of the week. The victory was William & Mary's first of the season and improved the Green and Gold to 1-4-2.

The Toms River, N.J., native scored her first goal of the season in the 35th minute, answering American's opening tally just 31 seconds later to even the match at 1-1.

Seitz struck again in the 78th minute as part of a four-goal second half for the Tribe, extending W&M's advantage to 4-1. The senior finished the afternoon with two goals on four shots, putting three attempts on frame.

The brace accounted for Seitz's first two goals of the season and moved her to four points through five appearances. She has scored on two of her four shots this season and put three on goal.

Seitz helped spark an offensive outburst for the Tribe, which scored five unanswered goals after falling behind 1-0. W&M's five goals were a season high and increased its season total to 12, with 10 coming after halftime.

The weekly award is the first of Seitz's collegiate career.

William & Mary opens CAA play Saturday, Sept. 19, traveling to Charleston, S.C., to face College of Charleston. Kickoff is set for noon, and the match will be streamed on FloCollege.
