WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William & Mary Athletics experienced another strong year in the classroom, achieving high marks for grade point averages in 2025-26. Tribe student-athletes have produced nine consecutive semesters with a term GPA above 3.25, and the department has posted a cumulative GPA above 3.3 each of the last five years.

After recording a department term GPA of 3.33 during the fall semester, W&M achieved a 3.35 department GPA during the spring. For the third-straight semester, all 23 Tribe programs posted a cumulative GPA above 3.0. W&M's department cumulative GPA was 3.36 following the spring semester.

"William & Mary's student-athletes are among the nation's highest achievers when it comes to the classroom. Not only do they get high grades, but they do it consistently, year after year," said Brian D. Mann, Director of Athletics.  "Each of our 23 programs contributes to the department's overall success and I couldn't be prouder of how hard our student-athletes work on their studies as they balance practice, competition and academics.  These results are also a credit to our coaches and staff, who prioritize academic excellence and create an environment where our student-athletes can thrive in every way."

A total of eight programs enjoyed a spring GPA of 3.5 or higher led by Women's Gymnastics' 3.71. Men's Swimming posted the highest spring semester GPA for a men's program at 3.64. Women's Cross Country (3.61), Men's Gymnastics (3.62), Women's Soccer (3.54), Women's Swimming (3.69), Women's Tennis (3.53), and Women's Indoor Track and Field (3.65) joined the group of programs above 3.5 during the spring semester.

Women's Swimming recorded the highest cumulative GPA among W&M programs at 3.61, while Men's Swimming posted the top men's cumulative GPA at 3.57. Women's Cross Country (3.59), Women's Soccer (3.58), Women's Tennis (3.51), and Women's Indoor Track & Field (3.61) achieved a cumulative GPA above 3.5 following the spring semester.

- In November, W&M Athletics
ranked second among NCAA Division I public schools in Federal Graduation Rate. It marked the 21st-straight year that the Tribe was first or second according to the NCAA metric.

ranked second nationally among Division I public schools in both perfect Academic Progress Rates (APR) and Public Recognition Awards when the NCAA released its annual report in May. W&M programs garnered 12 Public Recognition Awards, which were the most in the CAA and the state of Virginia and ranked 12th overall nationally. The Tribe's total awards and number of perfect APR scores trailed only the University of Michigan among public schools. In perfect multiyear APRs, the Tribe ranked ninth nationally among all DI intuitions, while also leading the state of Virginia and the CAA. The list of Public Recognition Award winners for W&M included: Men's Basketball, Men's and Women's Cross Country, Men's and Women's Golf, Men's and Women's Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Women's Soccer, Women's Swimming, Women's Tennis, and Volleyball. W&M has received 157 Public Recognition Awards all-time.

205 W&M student-athletes earned the Provost Award in 2025-26. It marks the sixth-straight year that 200 or more received the distinction. The Provost Award program began in 2003-04 and recognizes athletes who maintain over a 3.5 GPA.
