Towson Takes Series Opener From Baseball

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The Towson offense proved too much for William & Mary in the series opener as the Tribe fell 15-3 on Friday evening at Plumeri Park.

Towson (19-29, 7-18 CAA) opened the scoring in the second inning with a two-run homer from Yariel Rodirguez. In the bottom of the third, the Tribe (20-27, 11-14) halved the deficit when Sam Kaczmarek went deep to make it 2-1.

The visitors answered again with a two-run blast in the fourth off the bat of Nick LoBello.

In the bottom of the fourth, W&M responded when Kevin Francella singled to drive in a pair of runs to cut the lead to 4-3.

The Tigers extended their advantage with a three-spot in the sixth inning. Towson's bats continued to click into the late innings as they broke the game open with five runs in the eighth and three more in the ninth to win 15-3.

Matthew Kosuda went 3-for-5 in the loss for the Tribe.
