WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary Athletics proudly announced on Monday that the 2026 Lord Botetourt Affair (LBA) will be held on
Friday, September 18, 2026, aligning with the University's Family Weekend. The event will take place in the brand new, state-of-the-art
Mackesy Performance Center, marking an exciting new chapter for one of the university's most cherished traditions.
Now entering its 37th year, the Lord Botetourt Affair remains the premier fundraising event of the William & Mary Athletics Foundation. For more than three decades, LBA has provided vital support for thousands of student-athletes, helping to enhance both their academic and athletic experiences.
The newly announced date builds on the previously shared decision to transition the event from its traditional winter timing to the fall—an intentional move designed to elevate the experience and expand engagement across the William & Mary community.
"The move to a fall date has created a unique opportunity to reimagine the Lord Botetourt Affair while preserving the traditions that have made it so special," said Brian D. Mann, Director of Athletics. "I was excited to accept the date change at the recommendation of the LBA Committee, whose partnership and insight were instrumental in this decision. Hosting the event during Family Weekend, in conjunction with a home football game, allows us to harness the incredible energy on campus and create an even more dynamic and memorable experience for our supporters."
The selection of Sept. 18 positions LBA at the center of a vibrant campus weekend, welcoming alumni, families, and fans back to Williamsburg during one of the most spirited times of the academic year.
In addition to its new date, the 2026 event will debut in the Mackesy Performance Center, a cutting-edge facility that reflects William & Mary's continued investment in excellence. The modern venue will enhance the event atmosphere while showcasing the future of Tribe Athletics.
"For 36 years, the Lord Botetourt Affair has stood as one of William & Mary's most meaningful traditions," said
Michael Brown, Acting Senior Associate Athletics Director for Advancement. "As we bring LBA into the fall and into a remarkable new venue, we are excited to build on its legacy, engage new audiences, and further elevate its impact in support of our student-athletes."
Additional event details, including ticketing and program information, will be announced in the coming months.
