WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— William & Mary Athletics announced on Thursday record numbers in both dollars raised and donor participation from One Tribe One Day (OTOD) on April 29.
Tribe programs and athletics designations generated over $1.1 million on the day, eclipsing $1 million on OTOD for the first time, with over 3,000 people worldwide making a gift on the day.
Both numbers shattered the previous OTOD records of $797,479 from last year and 2,549 donors from 2023.
"One Tribe One Day continues to demonstrate the extraordinary commitment our alumni, families and friends have to William & Mary Athletics," said Director of Athletics
Brian Mann. "Surpassing the $1 million mark and setting new records for both dollars raised and donor participation is a tremendous statement about the strength and momentum of the Tribe community. These gifts directly impact the experience of our student-athletes and help position our programs for continued success in competition, in the classroom and in leadership development."
This year's efforts were aided by dollar-for-dollar matches for each program, ranging from $5,000-$25,000, and other challenges with funds being awarded at different donor participation thresholds.
New to this year's OTOD within Tribe Athletics were leaderboard challenges, awarding an additional $5,750 awarded to the programs with the most dollars, most donors and the most improved in dollars and donors on a percentage basis from last year's One Tribe One Day.
The swimming program grabbed the top spot in both the most dollars and most donors categories, while W&M volleyball won most improved dollars and most improved donors.
"The energy and generosity we saw throughout One Tribe One Day was truly remarkable. Every gift, regardless of size, plays an important role in helping our programs reach new heights," said Acting Senior Associate Athletic Director of Advancement,
Michael Brown. "The matches, challenges and new leaderboard initiatives created tremendous engagement across Tribe Athletics, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who invested in our student-athletes and the future of William & Mary Athletics."
Thank you to everyone who made a gift during this year's One Tribe One Day. Your generosity is truly appreciated!
