Laskofski Walks Off Elon with Extra Innings Home Run

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — In a 12-inning marathon, Willam & Mary out-lasted Elon on a walk-off home run from Jamie Laskofski, 2-1, on Friday night at Plumeri Park.

It was the first career walk-off homer for Laskofski, who capped off a four-hit performance as the Tribe (20-23, 11-11 CAA) won the series opener.

Both teams traded runs in the first inning, with Elon (16-27, 8-17) opening the scoring on a home run by Brian DuRoff before Charlie Iriotakis got the Tribe on the board with an RBI groundout.

Elon scored runs in the third and fourth inning to take a 3-1 lead. In the bottom of, Anthony Greco hit a sacrifice fly, plating Matthew Kosuda to cut the lead in half.

In the ensuing half-inning, Elon had a sac fly of their own to take a 4-2 lead. The Green & Gold whittled away the deficit, plating one run in the fifth and sixth on RBI groundouts from Laskofski and Kevin Francella, respectively, tying the game at 4-4.

Jack Weight pitched three innings out of the bullpen, allowing two runs before giving the ball to Charlie Richwine in the sixth.

Richwine proceeded to hold Elon scoreless over the next four 4 ⅓ innings, striking out four and allowing just one hit as the game went into extra innings.

Neither side was able to muster much offense in the late innings. Tom Bourque relieved Richwine in the 10th and recorded seven outs, retiring seven of the nine batters he faced. Bourque worked out of a jam in the 12th, stranding two runners with a lineout to Kosuda at third base.

That set the stage for Laskofski's heroics, as the sophomore belted the first pitch from Sam Nomura over the right-field wall to walk it off.

Bourque earned the win for the Tribe. Nomura was tagged with the loss for Elon.
