WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William & Mary men's golf wraps up the regular season, traveling to the Mountaineer Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The Tribe will take part in the event for the fourth-straight season.
The 54-hole event will be hosted at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, W. Va. with the first 36 holes played on Monday and the final round on Tuesday. Monday will be a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The Course
Playing to a par of 72 at 7,308 yards, Pete Dye Golf Club is undoubtedly one of the more rugged and challenging tests ever crafted by famous architect Pete Dye. The course challenges players with the fairways that twist and turn through the natural terrain of the Appalachian Mountains with plenty of risk and reward tempting competitors throughout. Sprawled over 250 acres, the track weaves around mining remnants and is ranked 64
th in Golf Digest's ranking of America's Top 100 Courses. Dye's masterpiece also ranks 18
th in Golfweek's list of the Best Modern Courses. The Pete Dye Golf Club opened in 1995.
Last Time Out
W&M posted the 17th-best score in school history on the way to finishing sixth at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge last week. The Tribe posted rounds of 2-over 290, 1-under 287, and even par 288 to finish the tournament at 1-over 865. It marks the fourth time this season that the Green and Gold posted a 54-hole total that ranks among the top 20 in school history. Freshman
Talon Dingledine led the way for the Tribe, posting his sixth top 10 of the season. He registered all three rounds under par on the way to a 4-under 212 to finish seventh.
Tribe News and Notes
- The Tribe owns wins at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate in March and the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate during the fall. It is the sixth time in school history that W&M has won multiple tournaments in a season and the first time since 2004-05.
- W&M was No. 123 in the NCAA Division I National Rankings as of April 10. W&M has been as high as No. 121 on Feb. 11 and 18.
- The Tribe has a scoring average of 289.4, which is nearly three shots better than the school record set in 2022-23.
- Freshmen
Talon Dingledine has enjoyed a strong rookie campaign. He has placed in the top 10 in six of the eight events, including a pair of top 5s. His 71.87 scoring average not only leads the team but ranks as the best in school history. His six top 10's this season rank third on the Tribe's single-season list.
- Fellow freshman
Eli Felty tallied his second top 5 of the season at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate. His 72.75 scoring average ranks third all-time among Tribe freshmen and sixth overall.
- Junior
Preston Burton has tallied 12 rounds of par or better this season to go along with a stroke average of 72.43. Those numbers rank fourth and third on the Tribe's single-season lists. He owns three top 5 performance this season, which is 11th in program history. In fact, he is one of only 20 players in Tribe lore with four career top 5s.
