Lax to Host Drexel for CAA Opener on Saturday

3/12/2026 2:30:00 PM

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary lacrosse team will open its conference slate when it hosts Drexel at Martin Family Stadium on Saturday at noon.

An audio broadcast as well as live stats will be available at TribeAthletics.com.

Admission is free.

Clear Bag Policy and Metal Detectors
Furthering its commitment to a first class and secure environment at home athletic events, William & Mary will implement the use of walk-through metal detectors at the entrances to athletic venues (both ticketed and non-ticketed events). This enhanced security method mirrors standard practice at most major professional and intercollegiate athletic events throughout the country and compliments the Clear Bag Policy already in place. Fans will proceed through metal detectors prior to having their tickets scanned or entering a venue for non-tickets events. Entrants will not need to remove items such as belts, cell phones, coins, jackets, jewelry, watches, wallets, shoes or other small objects. If additional screening is necessary, security staff will ask the individual to proceed to a secondary screening area, where they will be asked to divest themselves of certain items and pass through again until clear.

Last Meeting vs. Drexel
W&M's three-game winning streak was snapped with a 21-11 setback at No. 23 Drexel in its 2025 CAA opener last season. W&M trailed by just one, 4-3, late in the first quarter, but Drexel broke the game open with eight unanswered goals. Paige Gilbert (4g) and Ainsley Huizenga (3g, 1a) led the Green & Gold with four points apiece, while Gilbert also added two draw controls and two ground balls. Kate Draddy found the back of the cage twice and posted a career-high seven ground balls with a draw control. Goalie Marin Wilhelm tallied 10 saves with five ground balls and a caused turnover.

Last Time Out
W&M earned an exciting 8-7 comeback victory against Xavier at Martin Family Stadium last Sunday. Xavier narrowed the margin to just one twice during the fourth quarter, including for the final time with less than a minute remaining, but Kate Draddy secured the last of her game-high seven draw controls to help W&M clinch the non-conference win. Sydney Witwer led the Tribe with a career-high four points (1g, 3a), while Grace Walter (1g, 2a) and Nora Begley (2g) also provided offensive production. Goalie Anna Lopez recorded seven saves and a .500 save percentage, while Sophie Busam and Aubrey Roth added two caused turnovers and two ground balls apiece.

Additionally, the Tribe's goal total marked the program's highest scoring output since 2022 when it earned a 20-15 win at Campbell, while the defensive performance marked the fewest goals allowed by W&M since 2020 when it defeated Old Dominion, 11-4.
