Former William & Mary All-America defensive end Nate Lynn was signed to the New York Jets' active roster Wednesday.

Lynn originally joined the Jets during the preseason on Aug. 18 and quickly made an impact, recording 3.0 sacks and seven tackles in games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants. He signed with the organization's practice squad on Aug. 31.

Lynn is one of six former W&M standouts currently on NFL rosters, joining Charles Grant (Las Vegas Raiders), Bill Murray (Los Angeles Rams), Luke Rhodes (Indianapolis Colts), Colby Sorsdal (Atlanta Falcons practice squad) and Owen Wright (Las Vegas Raiders practice squad).

Lynn began his NFL career with the Detroit Lions in 2024, spending the season on injured reserve. He then spent the 2025 season on the Tennessee Titans' practice squad.

One of the most accomplished players in W&M history, Lynn earned 10 postseason All-America honors from various organizations during his final three seasons with the Tribe. A two-time finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award, presented annually to the FCS National Defensive Player of the Year, Lynn finished his career ranked second in school history in both sacks (28) and tackles for loss (40). The three-time first-team all-conference selection also set a school record with 12 forced fumbles.

In addition to his record-setting totals, Lynn finished his career with 192 tackles, three passes defended and two fumble recoveries.

Lynn's breakout season came as a sophomore, when he tied the W&M single-season record with 12 sacks in just 10 games and finished ninth in the final voting for the Buck Buchanan Award. He was also named the Virginia Defensive Player of the Year by VaSID after leading the FCS in forced fumbles per game (0.6) and ranking third nationally in sacks per game (1.2).
