INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— The NCAA announced the qualifiers for the track and field Regional Preliminaries on Thursday afternoon. Three William & Mary athletes,
Catherine Garrison,
Elizabeth Strobach and
Arianna DeBoer, earned spots in the East Regional that will take place May 28-31 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Garrison will represent the Tribe in the 3000m steeplechase. She is the program record holder in the event thanks to a time of 10:07.00 on April 17 at the Wake Forest Invitational. That showing seeds her 18
th in the East region heading into next week's action in the Sunshine State.
Strobach also is a W&M program record holder, qualifying for the postseason in the pole vault. The sophomore originally set the program record of 4.09m (13-5) on May 4 at the Duke Twilight before besting it on Sunday at App State with a mark of 4.16m (13-7.75). She is ranked 33
rd in the East region.
DeBoer grabbed the 44
th qualifying spot in the 10,000m. The Tribe senior crossed the line with a time of 34:07.04 back on March 27 at the Raleigh Relays to earn her spot in Jacksonville. DeBoer is the fifth best performer all-time for W&M in the 10,000m.
Strobach and DeBoer will compete on May 29 at 5:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. respectively. The steeplechase for Garrison is slated for May 31 at 5:40 p.m. with the meet broadcast on ESPN+.
Athletes who advance out of the East Regional Preliminaries in Jacksonville will go on to compete at the National Championships in Eugene, Ore. June 11-14.
