Baseball Heads to Charleston for CAA Tournament

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — The No. 5-seeded William & Mary baseball team will begin the CAA Tournament on Wednesday as they take on host school and No. 4 seed Charleston on Wednesday at noon in the opening game. The double-elimination tournament will take place from May 21-25 at the Ballpark at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

Further games will have a time and opponent to be determined based on tournament results.

POSTSEASON PROSPECTUS
This is W&M's sixth straight year competing in the CAA Tournament. The Tribe won two games last year, reaching as far as the third round before falling to Delaware. W&M won the CAA Tournament in 2001 and 2016, in addition to capturing the ECAC South title (the precursor to the CAA) in 1983.

Northeastern is the top seed in the field with a 25-2 league record, followed by No. 2 UNCW (19-8), No. 3 Campbell (15-12), and No. 4 Charleston (15-12). Elon (13-14) rounds out the field as the six-seed. W&M was one of five CAA team that had a winning record in league play.

LAST TIME OUT
The Green & Gold defeated Towson on Saturday, 7-6, with a dramatic ninth-inning comeback to salvage a game from the series. INF Anthony Greco delivered a go-ahead, two-RBI double with his team down to its final strike as W&M overcame a three-run ninth inning deficit to win. INF Jamie Laskofski tied a career-best with four hits, going 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs.

BENNY BARRELS
OF Ben Parker has continued to put up historic numbers in the 2025 campaign. The grad senior leads the CAA in batting average (.413), doubles (23), hits (93), on-base percentage (.502), and total bases (157). Nationally, he ranks third in hits, seventh in doubles, and 11th in average. Parker is on pace to break the single-season program record for hits (96, set by Mike Sheridan in 2008). He already owns the school record for on-base percentage (.486).

BIG TIME CRUSH
OF Christian Rush went deep on Friday against Towson for his 14th home run of the season. Rush ranks third in the CAA in homers, while his eight round-trippers in conference play is fourth-most. The Perkasie, Pa. native has put up career numbers a senior, slugging .563, an increase of over .125 points from last year, and upping his home run total nearly five-fold (3 to 14).

ROOKIE MODE
INF Jamie Laskofski enters the tournament riding a four-game hitting streak (9-for-16). He leads all CAA freshmen in average (.357), hits (74), runs (53), and stolen bases (12). His hit total also ranked top-100 nationally and fifth among all Division I rookies. His numbers improved during conference play, where he batted .396 with 24 RBI and a 1.009 OPS.

JERRY ROLL
C Jerry Barnes III has thrown out 19 runners attempting to steal, which ranks tied for the CAA lead along with Charleston's Dylan Johnson. It's also tied for the fourth-most caught stealing by in single-season program history. The junior backstop has also contributed with his bat, hitting a two-run homer in a 2-for-4 day against Northeastern on May 10.

SAINT NICK
On Thursday at Towson, LHP Nick Lottchea struck out a career-high six batters in his start, going five innings and walking none. In his last four outings, the senior has a 2.65 ERA and 16/2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He's also picked off seven runners this season, tied for sixth-most in single-season program history. His 12 career pickoffs are fifth-most all-time.

TATER TIME
W&M saw two players registered their first career home runs on Friday against Towson: INF Owen Wilson had a three-run blast while sophomore C Charlie Felmlee went deep with a two-run shot. The Tribe hit five home runs as a team, the most in a single game since March 13, 2024 at Longwood.

IRON MAN
RHP Daniel Lingle leads the nation with 32 games pitched. Since May 7, the sophomore has pitched to a 3.18 ERA with a .211 opponents' batting average.

CARDIAC TRIBE
W&M has 16 come-from-behind wins this year out of their 21 total victories. The Tribe has won six games in which they trailed by at least four runs, in addition to three walk-off wins.

STAT NUGGETS
  • W&M leads the CAA in batting average (.313), hits (589), and slugging percentage (.468), and ranks second in on-base percentage (.394).
  • OF Lucas Carmichael ranks 18th in Division I in hits (84) and 88th in total bases (132). He hit nine home runs in conference play, which tied for second-most.
  • W&M is one of two teams in Division I (Dayton) with multiple players that have posted hitting streaks of 20+ games, with Parker (34 games) and Carmichael (23) both reaching that plateau.
  • INF Derek Holmes ranks top-100 in Division I strikeout rate (9.57 K/AB).
