Tribe Returns Home to Face Longwood Tuesday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The William & Mary baseball team begins a four-game homestand at Plumeri Park as they host Longwood on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on the Tribe Sports Network.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tribe dropped two of three games to UNCW over the weekend, taking the middle contest 8-4 in extra innings. The victory was highlighted by a go-ahead grand slam by OF Christian Rush and a four-run 12th inning. W&M's bullpen combined to hold the Seahawks to just one run and two hits over the final nine frames, racking up 11 strikeouts.

SUPER STREAK
Outfielders Ben Parker and Lucas Carmichael enter Tuesday's contest riding dual 21-game hitting streaks. That ties Mike Decarlo for the third-longest streak since single-game records are available, dating back to 2004.

In the UNCW series, Parker batted 4-for-12 (.333) with two home runs and five RBI. Carmichael went yard in Sunday's contest, giving him six home runs in his last 13 games. That total ties him with Parker for second-most on the team.

A GRAND SIGHT
OF Christian Rush keyed Saturday's come-from-behind victory over UNCW with a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning. It was the Tribe's first grand slam of the season, and the first overall since Henry Jackson cleared the bases on April 13, 2024 against N.C. A&T. In the CAA leader boards, Rush ranks second in home runs (11), second in total bases (87), and third in RBI (42).

PUNCHOUT PARTY
On Saturday, RHP Carter Lovasz recorded a career-high nine strikeouts in five innings of relief to help W&M top UNCW in extras. The senior threw 84 pitches and held the Seahawks' offense to just one hit as he earned his team-leading third win of the year.

LEAVE IT TO LINGLE
RHP Daniel Lingle ranks third in all of Division I with 20 pitching appearances. He trails Reid Easterly (Duke) and Colin Hawkins (UIC) who each have 21. Lingle has been equally effective as of late, registering eight straight appearances without an earned run. Since March 28 vs. Hofstra, he has a 0.00 ERA and .185 BAA.

MILESTONE TRACKER
  • Lovasz got his 200th career strikeout on Saturday at UNCW.
  • Carmichael reached the 150-hit mark with a 2-for-6 day on Saturday.
  • Rush scored the 100th run in his collegiate career on Friday.

STAT NUGGETS
  • The Tribe continues to pace the CAA in batting average (.311), runs (261), and triples (11). They also rank second in slugging (.466).
  • Parker leads the CAA in hits (59), doubles (13), runs (43), and total bases (96), while ranking second in batting average (.401).
  • The Tribe pitching staff has posted a respectable 4.81 ERA over its last four games, holding opponents to a .224 batting average.
  • Rush has a 17-game on-base streak.
  • Since March 29, RHP Zach Boyd has a 3.86 ERA and .182 BAA in five appearances with a 6/1 K/BB ratio.

SERIES HISTORY
W&M owns the all-time series with Longwood, 21-11. The Tribe is 16-6 against Longwood in Plumeri Park and won last year's contest in Farmville 20-6. This was be just the second meeting between the schools in the last 10 years.
