Tribe Heads to UNCW for Three-Game Set

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The William & Mary baseball returns to road conference play with a three-game series at UNCW this weekend. The action will get underway from Brooks Field in Wilmington on Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. start on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. All games will be streamed live on FloSports.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tribe lost a marathon affair to Duke on Tuesday, falling to the Blue Devils 3-2 in 12 innings. Eleven William & Mary pitchers combined to hold an ACC offense to just six hits. The three runs allowed was tied for second-fewest in a game by W&M this season, and 12 strikeouts by the staff was the fifth-most. On the defensive side, the Tribe played error-free baseball for the second straight game. INF Jamie Laskofski was on base three times, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a walk.

UPPING THE STREAK
With base hits against Duke, outfielders Ben Parker and Lucas Carmichael extended their dual hitting streaks to 18 games. That is tied for the sixth-longest streak since 2004, as far as single-game records date back.

Parker has eight multi-hit games in his last 10 contests, giving him 17 for the season to pace the Tribe. Carmichael is right behind his teammate with 16 multi-hit performances.

STAFF DAY
W&M used a season-high 11 pitchers in their loss to Duke. LHP Ryan Feczko pitched a scoreless inning with three strikeouts, while RHP Tyler Kelly went two shutout frames and racked up three punchouts. Eight Tribe pitchers registered scoreless appearances.

LEAGUE RECOGNITION
On Monday, OF Christian Rush was named the CAA Co-Player of the Week. The senior had a monster week at the dish, batting 8-for-16 (.500) with four runs, a homer, and six RBI. In Saturday's 13-12 win over Elon on Saturday, Rush finished a triple shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and a homer. He posted multi-hit outings in all three games against the Phoenix. His hitting streak stands at eight games while his on-base streak sits at 14.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR...SO FAR
Laskofski leads all CAA rookies with a .345 batting average. He's also pacing the league's freshmen in runs (35) and stolen bases (eight).

LEAVE IT TO LINGLE
RHP Daniel Lingle has registered 18 appearances this season, which ranks fifth in Division I. The sophomore has pitched in the Tribe's last four games and nine of the last 10. Since March 28 against Hofstra, he has allowed no runs in 5.2 innings while holding opponents to a .125 average.

STAT NUGGETS
  • The Tribe ranks 11th in the nation and first in the CAA in batting average at .324.
  • The Green & Gold also leads the conference in hits (355), scoring (7.8 runs per game), and triples (11).
  • Parker paces the CAA in batting average (.407), hits (55), runs (40), and total bases (85). His hit total also ranks 12th nationally
  • During Rush's 14-game on-base streak, he's slashing .377/.492/.679 with 16 RBI. His .492 OBP in that timeframe leads the team.
  • Rush is also the CAA RBI leader (37) while ranking third in home runs (nine).
  • W&M hit .356 in the Elon series.
  • The 18 hits vs. Elon on April 4 were tied for second-most in a game this year, and the four home runs were the most since March 13, 2024 at Longwood (five).
  • In his last four outings, RHP Zach Boyd has a 2.08 ERA with a .100 BAA and 5/1 K/BB ratio.
  • LHP Chad Yates posted a career-high six strikeouts in his April 4 start against Elon.
  • The Tribe has not committed an error in its last two games.
