Tribe Welcomes Princeton for Two-Game Series

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The William & Mary baseball team will return home to Plumeri Park as they host Princeton for a two-game series on Tuesday and Wednesday. First pitch for both games is set for 3 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tribe dropped three games to Kansas State over the weekend. UTL Derek Holmes hit his first home run with the Green & Gold with a two-run blast on Sunday. OF Christian Rush went .500 (5-for-10) with four runs, a homer and two RBI in the series, going yard in Saturday's game.

On the pitching side, RHP Owen Pierce tossed three innings in Friday's opener without allowing a hit, surrendering just one run. His opponents' batting average now stands at .130 and his ERA is at 1.26.

YO HOLMES
Speaking of Holmes, the Tribe third baseman had a 3-for-4 day in game two against Kansas State. He upped his batting average to .395, which leads the team and ranks third in the CAA. In addition, Holmes ranks second in the CAA and 47th nationally in fewest strikeouts per at-bat (14.3).

POWER RUSH
After hitting just three home runs in all of 2024, Christian Rush has hit five taters in 15 games this season. Though his on-base percentage remains roughly the same, he has increased his slugging percentage by over 230 points (.437 to .673). He ranks top-five in the CAA in home runs, RBI, and slugging.

STILL STREAKING
INF Anthony Greco has continued his 14-game on-base streak to begin the season after he drew a walk in both his starts against KSU. Greco owns a .404 on-base percentage and has nine walks, tied for most on the team.

STAT NUGGETS
  • INF Owen Wilson had a coming-out party in the KSU series, collecting a season-high three hits and two runs in the Sunday finale.
  • OF Lucas Carmichael has hits in seven of his last eight games.
  • OF Ben Parker leads the Tribe with a .471 on-base percentage. He's reached base in a variety of ways, tallying 18 hits (.333 AVG), nine walks, and five HBP.
  • INF Kevin Francella notched his first hit and RBI of the season on Saturday against KSU.

SERIES HISTORY
The Tribe leads the all-time series against the Tigers 15-14. The last matchup was in 2022, a 9-6 victory in Williamsburg. Princeton is one of the Tribe's earliest played opponents, with the series dating back to 1907.
