WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary men's tennis kicks off the 2025 dual-match season with a home contest against Norfolk State on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m.
The match up with the Spartans will be the first of three during the opening week of the season for the Tribe. W&M heads to the Midwest to face ACC foe Notre Dame on Saturday, Feb. 8, and Northern Illinois of the Mid-American Conference on Sunday, Feb. 9. Both matches will be played at the Eck Tennis Pavilion in South Bend, Ind.

Scouting the Competition
- Norfolk State also opens its dual-match season with the Tribe on Wednesday. It marks the second-straight season in which the teams have met following W&M's 7-0 last season in the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The Tribe is 17-0 all-time against the Spartans.
- Notre Dame is 6-1 on the year with its lone loss coming to Princeton, 5-2. The Fighting Irish lineup features a nationally-ranked singles player in No. 28 Sebastian Dominko and a trio of nationally-ranked doubles teams (No. 78 Dominko and Peter Nad; No. 106 Jayanth Devaiah and Luis Lloren Saracho; and No. 113 Brian Bilsey and Noah Becker).
- The Irish hold a 14-2 advantage in the all-time series. The teams met 11 times in a 10-year period (2005-14) and last faced off in 2017 at Notre Dame, a 7-0 Irish win.
- Northern Illinois is 3-2 on the season and will take on Notre Dame on Saturday before facing the Tribe on Sunday. It will be the first meeting between NIU and W&M.

- Sophomore
Oliver Hague and freshman
Gur Trakhtenberg led the Tribe with a 9-5 singles record during the fall. The teammates squared off in the finals of the UTR event at Kingsmill in November with Hague posting a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win.
- During the fall, Hague also advanced to round of 16 at the ITA Atlantic Region Singles Championship with a pair of wins.
- Senior
Alexander Karman led W&M in doubles wins during the fall with five. He teamed with junior
Albert Hansen to advance to the finals of the UTR event at Kingsmill.
- Hague is the reigning CAA Rookie of the Year and was an All-CAA Second Team selection in doubles in 2024.
- Karman, fellow senior
Sean Joseph, and Hansen return after closing out the 2024 as part of the Tribe's lineup during the CAA Championship. Karman and Joseph played at the No. 3 doubles position, while Hansen and Joseph were part of the singles lineup.
- W&M welcomed four freshmen to the fold in 2024-25. Trakhtenberg and classmate
Raz Katz both hail from Israel and had strong junior careers. Trakhtenberg earned a career-high ITF Junior Combined World Ranking of No. 80 in 2024, while Katz was ranked No. 15 in the Israeli men's national ranking and was rated as high as No. 435 in the ITF ranking. Freshman
Bryan Volk , who is the brother of former Tribe standout Brenden Volk, and
Theo Nilsson from Sweden round out the rookie class.
