TRIBE NOTES
• The Matchup
With eyes on the program's best conference start in history, W&M returns home riding a five-game win streak to host Campbell on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game is the program's National Girls and Women in Sports Day game.
•
The Opponent
Campbell comes to town an even 4-4 in CAA play after rallying for a 32-point fourth quarter to knock off Monmouth at home on Friday. The Camels are one of the best offenses in the league at 65 ppg and 40% shooting. They are a perfect 9-0 at home but a disappointing 0-9 on the road this season.
• Last Time Out
W&M scored a comeback win after trailing through three quarters at Elon on Friday. The Tribe scored the first 13 points of the fourth quarter before hanging on for a 64-59 win.
Cassidy Geddes led the way with 25 points with
Bella Nascimento not far behind with 18.
• Tribe on the Air
Sunday's matchup will be the third of five W&M games broadcast on MASN this season. Home matchups with Charleston and Hofstra can also be caught on the regional sports network, while still being simulcast on FloCollege.
• Going for a Run
During the last four games the Tribe has used a large run in each to get them on the path to victory. The Tribe outscored Northeastern 23-9 in the fourth quarter for a comeback victory before using its largest spurt of the season, 20-2, in the second quarter before coasting to a win last Friday over UNCW. The also utilized runs of 20-9 in the first quarter over Towson on Sunday and 18-8 in the fourth quarter at Elon.
• I'll Be Taking That
The Tribe collected 17 steals off 23 Elon turnovers in Friday's win, the most steals for the Tribe since posting 18 against UC Riverside on 12/5/17. Anahi Cauley and
Cassidy Geddes each had five swipes while Bell Nasciemento added four.
• Trending Up
Eight games into CAA action the Tribe have a quartet of players who have picked up their offensive production.
Bella Nascimento (18.8),
Cassidy Geddes (12.6) and
Kayla Rolph (10.6) are all averaging in double figures during league action with Tika Sallman not far behind at 8.8 per game. Nascimento was the only player for W&M who averaged 10-plus in the non-conference.
• WWWWWinning Streak
After going the entire non-conference without consecutive wins, the Tribe is now winners of five straight. The current win streak is W&M's longest under
Erin Dickerson Davis. With a win over the Camels the Tribe would have its first six-game win streak in nearly five years, dating back to February of 2020.
• More History
Aside from the win streak, a victory over Campbell would give the Tribe its best conference start in program history at 7-2. The current 6-2 mark ties the 2005-06 squad for the best start in program history.
• Anahi Stuffs the Stat Sheet
Despite having just seven points on Friday, Anahi Cauley's fingerprints were all over the win at Elon. The senior posted seven assists and five steals, both career-highs. She surpassed her previous career-high by two in both categories.
• Geddes Gets it Done
Cassidy Geddes was no doubt the catalyst for W&M offensively against Elon. The sophomore posted 25 points, her third 20-point performance of the season, including scoring the first seven points of the second quarter in a 1:15 span. Her 11 made field goals were a career high.
• Taking Care of the Rock
The Tribe has won the turnover battle in each of the last seven games, dating back to the first meeting with Elon. Over that span W&M has turned the ball over under 10 times twice, while also turning the opponent over 15-plus times on six occasions.
• Ballin' Bella
Bella Nascimento currently ranks fifth in the CAA in scoring at 15.4 ppg while her 18.8 per game in conference play ranks third in the league.
• Injury Bug
After a year in which injuries were few and far between for the Tribe, the injury bug has caught up with them through 19 games in 2024-25. The Tribe has had five different players miss time with injury this year for a total of 25 games.
Kayla Beckwith (9),
Natalie Fox (8),
Alexa Mikeska (3),
Rebekah Frisby-Smith (2), Anahi Cauley (2),
Marley Long (1) is the group who makes up those absences.
• Sharing the Rock
62.4% of the Tribe's baskets this year has been assisted, the second highest rate in the CAA and 43rd in the nation. Drexel is the only CAA team with a higher percentage of assists at 71.8%, third best in the nation.
• Month to Remember
The Tribe closed out January 6-2 thanks to Friday's win. The six wins is W&M's most in a month under
Erin Dickerson Davis and the third straight January the Tribe has won five-plus games. Davis has never had a losing January or February in her tenure.
• Newfound Height
The Tribe adds six new players to the roster in 2024-25, four freshmen and two transfers. Five of the six newcomers are over 6-feet tall. The average height of the six new players is slightly over 6'1, while the average height of the eight returners is 5'9.
• Coach E Extended
W&M Director of Athletics,
Brian Mann, announced in late August that head coach
Erin Dickerson Davis had agreed to a contract extension through 2029. Through two seasons Davis became the fastest coach to 20 CAA wins in program history and fastest to 30 career wins in 95 years.
• 60 is the Magic Number
60 points is a key number for W&M. The Tribe is 23-6 under
Erin Dickerson Davis when holding teams below 60. While team's have had a mixed bag of success scoring in the 60s vs. W&M, opponents are 32-5 against them when scoring 70+ since 2020-21. Offensively, the Tribe is 38-13 when scoring over 60 and 4-23 when held below 60 under Davis.
