Getting to Know the Tribe: Chase Lowe

Chase Lowe, a senior on the William & Mary men's basketball team, is a product of Weddington, North Carolina, a small town known for its academics and public schools.
 
Chase, however, is anything but small-town; his outgoing and friendly nature makes him a natural in the world of collegiate sports.
 
"I love meeting new people and making new friends," Chase said.
 
Chase's journey to William & Mary was driven by the perfect combination of academic and athletic excellence the school offers. He has already made lifelong friendships and connections during his time there, which he considers a significant blessing.
 
"I've been fortunate enough to make lifelong friendships and connections with the people I've met here," Chase shared.
 
Chase's admiration for LeBron James, his favorite professional athlete, played a significant role in his love for basketball. He grew up watching LeBron on the Miami Heat and was inspired by his game.
 
He also has a deep appreciation for Magic Johnson, whom he considers a comparison for his own style of play.
 
"Magic Johnson was also a very large point guard who got joy from getting his teammates involved," Chase explained. "I think we are both pass-first point guards and leaders on the court."
 
Beyond the Court
 
Chase's interests extend beyond basketball. He has a passion for finance and aspires to work in the finance world after his basketball career. Additionally, he is pursuing an Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor and has ambitions of starting his own company one day.
 
"I have an idea for an app that I plan on developing in the near future," Chase revealed.
 
While basketball is his primary focus, Chase has a multitude of hobbies outside the sport. He plays guitar daily and is even part of a band at William & Mary. He's been playing chess for as long as he can remember and is a big tennis fan, considering it his second favorite sport.
 
"My hidden talents are guitar, chess, and tennis. I'm also an excellent ping pong player," Chase shared.
 
Family Values
 
Chase's life is deeply rooted in family values. He couldn't imagine living without his family, as they mean the world to him. His older brother holds a special place in his heart, and he cherishes the love and support of his parents and extended family.
 
"My dad inspires me because I want to be like him one day. He's hardworking, compassionate, and the smartest person I know," Chase said.
 
Chase's diverse interests and talents make him a multidimensional individual. From playing guitar in a band to his love for chess and tennis, he is a testament to the idea that athletes can excel in various areas of life.
 
His favorite movies, directed by Christopher Nolan, showcase his appreciation for storytelling and creativity. His favorite foods, TV shows, and emojis reflect his personality and sense of humor.
 
Chase Lowe's journey from Weddington, North Carolina, to William & Mary is a testament to the power of passion, family, and diverse interests. His love for basketball, inspired by LeBron James and Magic Johnson, has taken him to the collegiate level, where he's making a name for himself.
 
Beyond the court, his aspirations in finance and entrepreneurship, along with his various hobbies, show that he is a well-rounded individual with a bright future.
