Men's Basketball Welcomes Elon for CBS Sports Network Game on Thursday Night

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Fresh off a sweep of Long Island to open league play, William & Mary returns home for a battle of 2-0 teams when its host Elon on Thursday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network with John Fanta and Dr. John Giannini on the call.
 
Fans can listen into the radio broadcast on the Tribe Sports Network with Jay Colley and Bobby Dwyer on the call. The Tide 92.3 FM is the flagship station of the Tribe Sports Network in Williamsburg.

W&M News and Notes
 
- The Tribe has won four of the last six meetings with Elon, including each of the last three in Williamsburg. Since Elon joined the CAA in 2014-15, W&M is 15-9 against the Phoenix.
 
- Thanks to its sweep over Long Island last week, the Tribe starts 2-0 in CAA play for the 14th time in school history. The program looks to start 3-0 for just the sixth time and first since it went 6-0 to begin the 2019-20 league slate. With both wins coming on the road, its marks just the third time in program history that W&M opened CAA play with two road wins (2019-20 and 1982-83).
 
- W&M possesses the top offense in the CAA, leading the league in scoring (82.6), field goal % (47.6), effective field goal % (57.2), 3-pointers made (11.5), assists (17.6), assist-to-turnover ratio (1.39), 3-pointers attempted (31.1), and fast-break points (14.0). The Tribe is second in the league in 3-point % (37.0).
 
- Freshman Isaiah Mbeng was named the CAA Rookie of the Week after averaging 11 points, four assists, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in the Tribe's 2-0 week. He tallied a career-high 15 points, including 4-of-6 from 3, in the win at Stony Brook. On the year, Mbeng leads the team and ranks third in the CAA in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.5), seventh in steals (1.4), and 11th in assists (3.0).
 
- In six of the last seven games, the Tribe has shot better than 50% from the floor, the program's best stretch since 2017-18. Over the last seven games, W&M is shooting 51.7% (217-of-420). On the year, the Green and Gold ranks 69th nationally in field goal % (47.6) and 24th in 2-point field goal % (58.3). Including its 3-point shooting ability, the Tribe ranks 22nd in the country in effective field goal % (57.2).
 
- The Tribe connected on double-digit 3-pointers in each of its last six games, averaging 13 per contest over the stretch. W&M has hit 10 or more 3-pointers in a game on nine occasions this season and is 7-2 in those contests. The Tribe is shooting 44.6% (78-of-175) from 3-point range over the last six contests.
 
- Brian Earl-coached teams are known among the fastest paced and highest scoring in the country. According to KenPom.com, W&M ranks 39th nationally in adjusted tempo (71.9) and 17th as well in shortest average possession length (15.4). The Tribe ranks 45th nationally in scoring at 82.6 points per game.
 
- Senior forward Noah Collier has scored in double figures in nine of the last 10 D1 games and leads the Tribe, while ranking 20th in the CAA, at 13.1 points per game. Earlier this season, he tallied a career-high 25 points at NC State. Collier is shooting 62.7% from the floor, which leads the CAA and ranks 14th nationally. He also leads the Tribe and ranks 17th in the CAA in rebounding (5.6).
 
- Three-point shooting has been a key piece of Earl's offenses, and W&M is one of the top teams in the country from distance this season. W&M ranks sixth nationally in 3-pointers made per game (11.5), seventh in% of field goal attempts coming from 3 (51.6%), eighth in 3-pointers attempted per game (31.1), 10th in % of scoring from 3-pointers (41%), and 54th in 3-point % (.370).
 
- Junior guard Chase Lowe has come on strong, scoring in double figures in five of the last six games. During that stretch, he is averaging 11 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game, while shooting 63.6% from the field (21-of-33). Lowe ranks 14th in the CAA in assists and 24th in rebounding.
 
- Nearly half of W&M's points have come off the bench. The Tribe has scored 45.4% (563-of-1239) of its points off the bench and is averaging 37.5 points per game from its reserves, which ranks seventh nationally. W&M relies on its bench for significant minutes as well and ranks 16th nationally in % of minutes played off the bench (41.9%) according to KenPom.com.
 
- Over the last six contests, senior Gabe Dorsey, who was a Preseason All-CAA First Team choice, is 23-of-37 from 3-point range (62.2%). He is W&M's career leader in 3's per game (3.2) and moved up into fourth place on the Tribe's career 3-pointers list with 233. He is just eight shy of third place. Dorsey currently ranks 42nd in 3-point % (43.1) and 54th nationally in 3-pointers made (2.93).
 
- W&M is averaging 20 assists per game over the last six games. The Tribe ranks 22nd nationally in assists. This season, the Green and Gold is 8-2 when it has a positive assist-to-turnover ratio. The Tribe ranks 47th nationally in assist %, assisting on 59.2% of its made field goals.
 
- The Tribe has used a balanced this season. In total, 12 different W&M players have scored in double figures in a game, which is the second most in the country. Ten different players are averaging at least five points per game, and 10 are averaging at least one assist. In eight of W&M's 15 games, at least four players have scored in double figures, including a season-high six in wins over Richmond and Georgia Southern. Seven different players have led W&M in scoring in game this season.
