W&M posted a 3-1 record during its non-conference slate and recorded a perfect 3-0 mark versus FCS opponents – all of which came from the Southern Conference (VMI, Wofford, Furman). Led by running back
Bronson Yoder (166 yards) and quarterback
Darius Wilson (155 yards), who both rushed for career highs, the Tribe piled up 384 yards on the ground in last week's win against Furman and now ranks fifth nationally in rushing (243.5). Additionally, W&M ranks 16th nationally in total offense (418.8) and 25th in scoring offense (31.0). Defensively,
TJ McGill was honored as the CAA Rookie of the Week following last week's win after recording his first career interception – one of three turnovers forced by W&M's defense.
Hampton also posted a 3-1 record during its non-conference slate and won its last three games after opening the season with a 30-28 setback to Morgan State. The Pirates boast one of the country's top rushing attacks and rank 13th nationally with 208.0 yards per game on the ground. Defensively, HU ranks 11th nationally in total defense (272.8) and 18th in scoring defense (19.5).
Saturday's game between W&M and Hampton will mark the 10th meeting between the two programs, as the Tribe has won all nine of previous matchups. The Tribe is 4-0 versus the Pirates in Zable Stadium and earned a 31-10 win on the road last season.
