Tribe News and Notes
- The Tribe is 23-10 all-time in CAA openers, including a 15-3 mark when the opener comes at home. Under head coach Tess Ellis, the Tribe is 9-2 in CAA openers, including winning last year's league lid lifter on the road at Towson. This season marks the fourth time the Tribe has opened CAA play against the Tigers. W&M downed Towson in the opener in 2014 (4-0) and 2016 (8-1).

- The Tribe is 29-4-1 all-time against Towson, including a 3-2 win over the Tigers in Maryland last season. W&M is 15-1-1 all-time against Towson in Williamsburg, including each of the last six meetings.

- Graduate student goalkeeper Maddie George leads the CAA and ranks second in the country in saves per game at 10.88 per contest. She recorded double-digit save efforts in five of her seven games this season, including each of the last two. George posted 10 saves at Duke, before totaling 15 against Harvard and 11 against ODU. Last week, she recorded 12 stops at American and vs. Villanova.

- Senior midfielder Pyper Friedman has two goals this season, which ranks 12th in the CAA. She scored in home games against Richmond and Old Dominion. Her goal against the Monarchs was her first career penalty stroke. Friedman leads active Tribe players with 13 career goals.

- W&M leads the CAA and ranks fourth nationally in defensive saves on the season with five.  Junior Emme Schwartz and sophomore Mackinzie Brown are tied for second in the CAA with two defensive saves apiece, which also ranks ninth nationally.

- George ranks among the top Tribe goalkeepers in school history. She currently ranks sixth in saves (295), seventh in saves per game (5.00) and shutouts (9), eighth in wins (24), 15th in save % (.706), and 20th in GAA (2.14). She is one win away from seventh place and two shy of sixth. George is also 14 saves shy of fifth-place on that list.

- Virginia leads the all-time series with the Tribe at 35-16-2, including each of the last nine meetings. W&M topped then-No. 5 Virginia, 2-1, in Charlottesville for its last victory in the series during the 2013 season.

- Virginia, who is ranked No. 3 nationally this week, marks the fifth nationally-ranked opponent of the year that W&M has faced. Four of the Tribe's first five matches in 2024 came against nationally-ranked opponents. W&M has already faced current No. 9 Duke, No. 10 Harvard, No. 14 Liberty, and No. 18 Old Dominion. The Green and Gold will also travel to No. 20 Monmouth on Nov. 1.
