WASHINGTON, D.C. – The William & Mary field hockey team fell at American, 8-0, on Friday afternoon.
AU (2-3) built a 4-0 advantage in the opening half and continued to pull away with three goals in the third period before securing the non-conference win with a final score in the fourth.
Goalkeeper
Alexandra de Jesus posted four saves to lead the Tribe (1-3), while
Josie Mae Gruendel recorded W&M's lone shot on goal.
Sam Daly also registered a shot.
Sophie Willemse and Olivia Morraye led the Eagles with two goals apiece, while Emilia Winkler and Ashley Huddleston totaled four and three assists, respectively.
AU outshot W&M, 22-2, and owned a 9-2 advantage in penalty corners.
The Tribe will return to action when it squares off against Georgetown for a neutral site game at Crenshaw Field in Richmond, Va., on Sunday at 4 p.m.
