WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary field hockey wraps up a three-match road trip at American, before returning home to host Villanova this week. The Tribe heads to the Patriot League opponent on Friday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m. and then host the Wildcats at noon on Sunday.
Clear Bag Policy
William & Mary Athletics, in conjunction with the William & Mary Police Department, has implemented a
clear
bag policy that regulates the size and type of
bag that may be carried into W&M Athletics facilities during the 2024-25 year, including Busch Field, Kaplan Arena, Martin Family Stadium, Plumeri Park, and Zable Stadium. Information as well as approved and prohibited items is available at

Tribe News and Notes
- Four of the Tribe's first five matches in 2024 came against nationally-ranked opponents. W&M has already faced current No. 5 Duke, No. 8 Harvard, No. 11 Liberty, and No. 19 Old Dominion. The Green and Gold will also travel to No. 3 Virginia later this season on Sept. 29.
- Graduate student goalkeeper
Maddie George leads the CAA and ranks third in the country in saves per game at 10.5 per contest. She recorded double-digit save efforts in each of her first three games this season against nationally-ranked foes. George posted 10 saves at Duke, before totaling 15 against Harvard and 11 against ODU last week.
- Senior midfielder
Pyper Friedman has both Tribe goals this season, scoring against Richmond and Old Dominion. Her goal against the Monarchs was her first career penalty stroke. Friedman leads active Tribe players with 13 career goals.
- W&M leads the CAA and ranks fourth nationally in defensive saves on the season with four. Junior
Emme Schwartz and sophomore
Mackinzie Brown are tied for the CAA lead with two defensive saves apiece, which also ranks eighth nationally.
- George ranks among the top Tribe goalkeepers in school history. She currently ranks seventh in saves (272) and shutouts (9), eighth in wins (24), ninth in saves per game (4.77), 16th in save % (.706), and 20th in GAA (2.14). She is one win away from seventh place and two shy of sixth. George is also 17 saves shy of sixth-place on that list.
- W&M leads the all-time series at 28-13-2, but American holds a 6-3-1 at home. It marks the second time the two teams have met over the last three years. In the last meeting, American topped W&M, 2-1, in Washington, D.C.
- The Tribe holds a 6-1 advantage in the all-time series with Villanova and have won the last three meetings between the schools. Sunday is the first meeting between the teams since 2004 when W&M topped the Wildcats, 4-3, in Williamsburg.
