Women's Basketball's Lanni Brown 200th W&M Student-Athlete Named to Prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Society

WILLIAMSBURG, Va.— Recent William & Mary women's basketball graduate Lanni Brown was selected as an initiate into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Society following the completion of the academic year.
 
Brown is the 200th W&M student-athlete to have been elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
 
Having recently graduated with a degree in psychology, Brown has been member of the CAA Commissioner's Honor Roll the past two years and was a College Sports Communications Academic All-District honoree in 2022-23.
 
A native of Suwanee, Ga., Brown was a four-year letterwinner with the Tribe, playing in 55 career games. She wrapped up her career with 72 points, 28 rebounds and 18 assists while being part of a team who won 10-plus CAA games for in back-to-back years for the first time in program history.
 
Phi Beta Kappa was founded Dec. 5, 1776 at W&M as the first Greek-letter fraternity and is now the nation's oldest and most prestigious collegiate honor society with chapters at more than 280 colleges and universities.  According to the organization's website, "Phi Beta Kappa celebrates and advocates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Its campus chapters invite for induction the most outstanding arts and sciences students at America's leading colleges and universities. The Society sponsors activities to advance these studies — the humanities, the social sciences, and the natural sciences — in higher education and in society at large."
