WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary head men's basketball coach Brian Earl announced the addition of junior college transfer forward Finn Lally to the Tribe program for the 2024-25 season. Lally is the fourth transfer and fifth player overall sign with the Green and Gold for next season.
 
"Finn gives us more depth at the post position and has a game that really fits our style," Earl said. "He is a skilled bigman that can really pass the basketball at a high level. Finn also has the ability to step out and shoot the ball, which is important to spread the floor, and he is an excellent free throw shooter for his size."
 
A Hamilton, New Zealand native, Lally played two seasons at Trinidad State College and earned his associates degree. He helped the Trojans to back-to-back NJCAA Region 9 Championships and NJCAA Division I Tournament appearances and an overall record of 48-16.
 
Over his two seasons in Colorado, Lally played in 50 games with 23 starts. He averaged 9.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and blocked shot per contest, shooting 50% from the field, 30.1% from 3, and 79% from the free throw line.
 
Lally averaged nine points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game last season, but was limited to just 19 contests. He erupted for a career-high 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting, including 2-of-4 from 3, and 8-of-10 at the free throw line in a win over Laramie Country Community College in November.
 
The 6-9 forward appeared in all 31 of Trinidad State's games during his rookie season. He averaged 9.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. He scored in double figures on 16 occasions, including 15 points in 17 minutes of action during the region semifinal win over Northwest College in March. Lally had his first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds in a one-point win over McCook Community College in January of 2023.
 
Lally played internationally for his home country of New Zealand at the youth level. He helped the Kiwis to a silver medal at the FIBA U17 Oceania Championships in 2019. Lally averaged 5.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game during the tournament and scored 10 points in each of the group stage wins over Samoa and Guam.
 
Lally, who is the first junior college transfer at W&M since Adam Dutton in 2005, is the fifth newcomer and fourth transfer to sign with the Tribe for 2024-25. He joins fellow transfers Keller Boothby (Plano, Texas / Prestonwood Christian Academy / Cornell), Malachi Ndur (St. Thomas, Ontario / Cushing Academy / Brown), and Kyle Pulliam (Silver Spring, Md. / Our Lady of Good Counsel / St. Thomas Aquinas), and freshman Ryan Jackson (Mesa, Ariz./AZ Compass Prep) as part of the Tribe's incoming class.
