W&M-Delaware All-Time Series
Delaware owns a 14-13 edge in the all-time series and has won the last eight of the last 10 meetings.
Last Meeting vs. Delaware
Justyce Barber scored a career-high six goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to help lift W&M to a thrilling 13-12 victory against Delaware at Martin Family Stadium last season. Although W&M trailed by three goals, 11-8, early in the fourth quarter, the Tribe rallied back with a 4-0 run to take the lead with 3:55 remaining. UD answered less than a minute later with a goal by Danielle Livornese to send the game into overtime, but W&M's defense held the Blue Hens scoreless the rest of the way and Barber provided the game-winner with 2:03 left in the extra session.
Last Time Out
W&M outscored Monmouth in the second half and nearly rallied back from a late three-goal deficit, but it was edged by the Hawks, 14-13, last Sunday. Trailing by three goals with a little more than 2 minutes remaining, W&M (4-7, 0-2) charged back with scores by
Paige Gilbert and
Chloe Pierini and had an opportunity to tie the contest in the waning seconds but
Serena Jacobs' shot on goal was saved by Monmouth goalie, Katie Sullivan. Gilbert led W&M by matching a career high with six goals to go with four draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover.
Overtime Success
With the 12-11 victory at George Washington earlier this season, W&M has won four of its last five overtime games dating back to 2019.
Seizing the Moment
During the last two seasons, W&M has posted a 5-2 record in games decided by just one goal.
Single-Season Top-10 List
After totaling five draw controls in W&M's last outing at Monmouth,
Kate Draddy currently ranks tied for ninth on W&M's single-season list for draw controls (46).
Big Numbers
In addition to posting a pair of six-goal performances this season,
Paige Gilbert has recorded multiple-goal efforts in seven of the last eight games.
Career Record Watch
One of the most successful goalies in school history,
Elise Palmer is ranked seventh in school history in career saves (332). She needs 54 more saves to pass Carlen Sellers for sixth on the all-time list.
Caroline Hertzberg currently ranks 10th all-time at W&M in draw controls (104), while her 51 career caused turnovers is just one shy of moving into the program's all-time top-10 list.
Courtney Vasquenza is also closing in on W&M's top-10 list for caused turnovers with 40.
Up Next
Following Saturday's game versus Delaware, W&M will return to action when it hosts Towson at Martin Family Stadium next Saturday at 1 p.m.
