WILLIAMSBURG, Va. –
William & Mary field hockey returns to CAA play against Northeastern on Friday, before heading to in-state rival Old Dominion on Sunday.

The Tribe faces the Huskies at 2 p.m. on Friday in a match that will be broadcast on FloLive. The match will be the first in CAA play for Northeastern, who is 4-3 on the year. The Huskies are coming off back-to-back losses on the road at UMass Lowell and No. 15 Harvard.

Tribe News and Notes
- The Tribe opened CAA play with a 3-2 win at Towson on Sept. 15. W&M improved to is 23-10 all-time in CAA openers and 9-2 under head coach Tess Ellis.

- Junior midfielder Pyper Friedman was named the CAA Player of the Week for the second time this season behind two goals, including the game-winner, against the Tigers. She also earned player of the week honors after scoring both Tribe goals in a 2-1 upset of No. 12 Wake Forest on Sept. 1. They were first two-goal games of Friedman's career. She lead W&M and ranks sixth in the CAA with four goals on the year.

- Graduate student Lauren Curran, who was an All-CAA First Team selection last season, ranks second on the team with five points on two goals and two assists. For her career, Curran has 24 goals, which is just two shy of breaking into the Tribe's career top 15 in goals.

- W&M and Northeastern have a history of playing close games with 14 of the 24 all-time meetings being decided by a goal. The Huskies hold a slim 13-11 advantage in the series and won in Boston, 5-1, last season. W&M won the last meeting in Williamsburg, 4-3, in 2021.

- Old Dominion is one of the Tribe's most played rivals, dating back to 1947. ODU leads the all-time series at 53-21, but W&M picked up a 3-2 double-OT win over the No. 19-ranked Monarchs in Williamsburg last season. Allison Goodwin scored the game-winner off a rebound in the 77th minute.

- The Tribe's 2-1 win over No. 12-ranked Wake Forest was the Tribe's 12th under head coach Tess Ellis against Top-20 opponents, including the fourth over the ACC. Last season, W&M topped three top-20 opponents, including No. 6-ranked Liberty.

- The Tribe had four players honored by the CAA during the preseason. Senior Jayden Moon, who had a goal and an assist in the season-opener against JMU, and Friedman were among 12 players named to the Preseason All-CAA Team, while senior goalkeeper Maddie George and Curran earned honorable mention honors. As a team, W&M was picked third in the preseason CAA poll by vote of the league coaches.

- In January, Moon and Friedman were named to the 2023 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team and invited to attend the Junior Pan American Championship (JPAC) Selection Camp. Moon was named a reserve for the JPAC team. Friedman has become a fixture on the USA Field Hockey scene early in her collegiate career after playing for the U-21 U.S. Women's National Team in the Uniphar 5-Nations Tournament in Dublin, Ireland, in June of 2022.
