WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Graduate outside hitter
Taylor Burrell earned co-Offensive Player of the Week honors in the opening weekend of conference play, the CAA announced Monday.
In four weeks, Burrell has earned an honor following three weekends of play, including all-tournament honors at the Mountaineer Classic and Bucknell Invitational. This marks her first CAA recognition of the season.
Burrell continued her dominant campaign in the Tribe's series sweep of Charleston at their home opener, posting career numbers each day. She recorded a career-best 23 kills on Saturday and matched the mark on Sunday, pacing the team with her 46 kills and averaging an impressive 4.60 kills per set in the pair of matches. She also recorded a .477 hitting percentage on Saturday, beating her previous season-high mark of .350.
In Sunday's match, Burrell was a dig shy of a double-double, adding nine digs and a block to her 23 kills as the Tribe reverse swept the Cougars.
