Tribe Heads To Towson For Big CAA Showdown

 
WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - William & Mary baseball is back on the road this weekend for three big CAA games at Towson beginning Friday afternoon. The Tribe enters the weekend fifth in the standings, looking to strengthen its grip on a spot in the CAA Tournament. All three games will be broadcast on Flobaseball.

William & Mary has won three straight after taking two from Delaware last Saturday and defeating VMI Tuesday evening. Towson enters the weekend with momentum after picking up a midweek win over Georgetown Wednesday evening. 
 
The Green and Gold swept Towson last season at Plumeri Park and holds a 38-15 all-time edge over the Tigers. The two teams have not met in Maryland since the 2019 season. 
 
Once again, strong pitching will be the key to success for William & Mary. The Tribe pitching staff ranks 10th nationally in ERA and second in the CAA. Among teams in the Colonial, William & Mary ranks first in innings pitched, strikeouts, and batting average against. The Tribe is second in earned runs and extra base hits allowed, and fourth in walks.
 
Cory Wall has been electric out of the Tribe pen throughout the year. The graduate student is leading the team and ranks in the top-10 nationally with a 8.33 strikeout to walk ratio (50 Ks, 6 BBs). Opponents are hitting just .220 off the righty, who is tied for a team-lead in wins. In his last outing, Wall went a season-high 4.2 innings and struck out six Delaware Blue Hens. 
 
Rojo Prarie picked up his third win of the season Tuesday night as he tossed 4.0 innings in the victory at VMI. The 4.0 innings matched a season-high for Prarie. Rojo also tied a career-high with six punchouts in the win, while allowing just one run on two hits. Prarie has been elite holding opponents to a .199 batting average against during the 2023 season. 
 
On the offensive side, ​​Nate Goranson is working on a seven-game hitting streak and has been the hottest bat in the Tribe's lineup over the past week. Over the last four games, Goranson is hitting .438 and has driven in 11 runs. The catcher has scored four times and has a pair of homers to go with three doubles in the Tribe's last four contests.
