Box Score 2 WILMINGTON, N.C.- The Tribe dropped a pair of decisions to UNCW Saturday afternoon in Wilmington to end the regular season. William & Mary has qualified for the CAA Tournament and will head to Charleston with a chance to qualify for the NCAA Tournament next week.
The Tribe dropped the opener 6-0 in seven innings and the regular season finale 6-3 in nine.
Joe Delossantos had a pair of hits in the early game, including a double.
Casey Green started on the hill for the Tribe and pitched 2.0 scoreless frames.
In the second game,
Noah Zertuche had a pair of knocks and drove in two, while fellow freshman
Tank Yaghoubi also had two hits.
Noah Hertzler tossed 3.0 scoreless, while
Bobby McDonough and
Carter Lovasz each tossed one scoreless inning.
The teams traded scoreless innings through three in the early game before UNCW plated two in the fourth, and then struck again for four in the sixth. In the late contest, UNCW scored three in the first, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth
The Tribe would rally in the eighth, as
Luca Danos drew a bases-loaded walk, and Zertuche roped a bases-packed single to score a pair and make it 6-3, but WM could not push any more runs across.
The Tribe will face third seeded Northeastern Wednesday afternoon in round one of the CAA Tournament.
