WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- Fresh off a weekend sweep, William & Mary baseball is back in action this Tuesday for the first of a pair of midweek games against Virginia foes. The Tribe will host George Mason on Tuesday at Plumeri Park before traveling to Norfolk to face Old Dominion on Wednesday. Both games are slated for 3:00 p.m. starts.
Tuesday's game will be broadcast live on Flobaseball.tv, however there will be no video available for Wednesday's game.
William & Mary (5-3), winners of four of the last five, scored 59 runs over the weekend sweep of Marist. In five games at Plumeri Park the Tribe is averaging 12 runs per game. George Mason enters the week 2-4 after dropping close decisions to Rutgers and Canisius last weekend, while Old Dominion (7-1) is riding a seven-game winning streak following a weekend sweep of Fordham.
William & Mary's pitching staff has been one of the best in the nation through the first two weeks of the season.
Daniel Sweeney's bunch is 15th in the nation with a team ERA of 2.74. The starting pitching has been even more elite with a combined 1.32 ERA allowing four runs over 27.2 innings pitched.
Brian Craven picked up a pair of wins last week, earning the decision Tuesday against Richmond and then Saturday over Marist. The transfer threw 6.0 innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out six.
The bats have been just as hot for the Green and Gold as the Tribe's .315 batting average ranks 41st in the nation.
Lucas Carmichael ranks ninth in the nation with a .656 on base percentage, while the team's .457 mark is 14th best in the NCAA.
Mike McRae's bunch has been active on the bases early in the year. William & Mary ranks 10th in the NCAA with 21 stolen bases through eight games.
Joe Delossantos swiped five bags last week alone and ranks eighth in the NCAA with eight steals on the year.
