Tribe News and Notes
- The Tribe (4-5) improved to 3-0 in CAA play with a 3-1 win at Delaware on Sept. 29. W&M is tied at the top of the CAA standings at 3-0, just ahead of 2-0 Monmouth. It marks the sixth time overall and fourth time in the last seven seasons that the Green and Gold has started 3-0 in CAA play. The Tribe started 4-0 in CAA play on three occasions in 2004, 2018 and 2019.
- Graduate student
Audrey Domovich has three goals over her last three games, and in CAA play, is tied for the league lead with three goals. She tallied both W&M goals in the team's 2-1 win over Northeastern, before posting a goal and an assist in the win at Delaware.
- A victory over Hofstra on Friday will clinch a spot in the CAA Tournament for the Tribe. W&M did not qualify for the CAA Tournament last season, finishing in a three-way tie for third but missing out due to tiebreakers. The Tribe previously had qualified for six-straight CAA Tourneys and won the league in 2018.
- W&M has won six straight and nine of the last 10 against Hofstra. The Tribe is 17-7 all-time against the Pride, including a 1-0 win in Hempstead last season.
- The Tribe has dominated the series with Georgetown, holding a 6-1 mark against the Hoyas. W&M has won the last five meetings and is a perfect 5-0 all-time against Georgetown in Williamsburg. The Green and Gold won the last meeting, 7-2, in Williamsburg in 2019.
- Junior midfielder
Pyper Friedman was named the CAA Player of the Week for the second time on Sept. 18 behind two goals, including the game-winner, at Towson. She also earned player of the week honors after scoring both Tribe goals in a 2-1 upset of then-No. 12 Wake Forest on Sept. 1. They were first two-goal games of Friedman's career.
- Friedman leads the Tribe and ranks seventh in the CAA in points per game (1.22). She has 11 points on four goals and three assists. She is ninth in the league in goals. In CAA play, she is tied for the CAA lead with Domovich in points with seven. Friedman is also tied for the league lead in assists with teammate
Maddie McGaughey behind three helpers.
- Graduate student
Lauren Curran, who was an All-CAA First Team selection last season, scored her third goal of the season and second in league play, giving W&M a 1-0 lead at Delaware. Curran ranks second on the team with seven points on three goals and an assist. Her two goals in league play rank fourth in the CAA. For her career, Curran has 23 goals, which ranks 20th in program history. Her goals per game mark of 0.49 is 11th in school history.
- The Tribe's 2-1 win over then-No. 12-ranked Wake Forest was the Tribe's 12th under head coach
Tess Ellis against Top-20 opponents, including the fourth over the ACC. Last season, W&M topped three top-20 opponents, including No. 6-ranked Liberty. The last time W&M won two matches against ACC competition in the same season was 2001.
