RICHMOND, VA.- For the second straight week a William & Mary volleyball player has earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors, this time freshman
Ryann Love after a historic performance to help the Tribe to a 2-0 weekend. Love's honor comes a week after former club teammate and fellow freshman
Sarah Callender earned the award last week.
In her home collegiate debut, Love was an offensive force slamming 10 kills on 13 attempts with zero errors for a .769 hitting percentage. The middle blocker added a block in the Tribe's three-set sweep of UMES.
In Saturday afternoon's five-set thriller, Love's defensive presence at the net was a major factor in the Tribe's comeback from down two sets to take down George Mason. Love posted nine blocks in the afternoon win, the most by any Tribe player since the 2017 season. In addition, the Chesapeake product slammed eight kills on a .700 hitting percentage.
Over the past three matches, Love is hitting an outstanding .771 and has 28 kills to go with 13 blocks. The freshman owns three of the top-10 single match hitting percentage marks in the CAA this season, and her nine blocks were the third most by any conference player in 2022.
As a team, William & Mary is hitting the third best of any team in the CAA and the Tribe is riding a five-match winning streak, the longest such streak since the 2012 season.
Love and the Green and Gold will welcome UNCW to begin conference play this Saturday and Sunday at Kaplan Arena.
