RICHMOND, Va. – William & Mary field hockey senior
Sally Snead was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Snead helped lead the Tribe to a pair of thrilling overtime wins this past week, including a 3-2 upset of No. 19-ranked Old Dominion on Aug. 26. The senior midfielder scored a goal in each of W&M's wins.
In the season opener against the nationally-ranked Monarchs, Snead scored off a rebound with 49 seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime. The Green and Gold eventually pulled out the 3-2 win in the second extra period. On Sunday, Snead's drive to the far post just 1:26 into overtime lifted W&M to a 1-0 win.
After the opening weekend of the year, Snead ranks second in the CAA in goals (2) and points (4).
The Tribe returns to action on Friday, Sept. 2, when it hosts Richmond at 6 p.m. The match will be streamed on Flo Live.
