Box Score ELON, N.C.- William & Mary downed Elon 3-2 Saturday afternoon to complete a sweep of the Phoenix and secured the number 4 seed in the CAA Tournament next weekend. The Tribe used great pitching from eight arms that tossed a combined nine innings allowing just one earned run. The win was the eighth straight to finish off the regular season for the Green and Gold.
Jack Cone earned his fourth win of the year tossing the opening two frames.

Garrett Casey,
Jack Ryan,
Adam Fischer,
Randy Prosperi,
Ned Ruffin followed, allowing zero earned runs over the next seven frames.
Nick Lottchea shut down Elon in the ninth to earn his first save.
Tyler Solomon led off the top of the second, reaching on an error. The senior later scored on an RBI single from
Lucas Carmichael. Elon tied the game with a walk followed by a double in the bottom half.
In the third,
Matt Thomas tripled to lead off the inning, and scored on
Cole Ragone's sac fly to deep left field. In the fourth,
Phil Conti doubled inside the left field line and scored on Thomas' single, giving the Tribe a 3-1 lead.
The teams traded scoreless frames until Elon plated an unearned run via a sac fly in the eighth inning. Ruffin finished out the eighth and gave way to Lottchea's one, two, three ninth to secure the Tribe's eighth straight win.
Thomas led the Tribe offensively with three hits, an RBI, and a run scored in the game.
Mark Trotta had three hits as well, and
Joe Delossantos added a pair of knocks. Overall the Green and Gold had 12 base hits, allowing just four.
William & Mary will return to Elon next weekend for the CAA Tournament and begin play Wednesday at noon.
