WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — After excelling in the gym and the classroom, William & Mary standout men's gymnast Alek Kuzmenchuk was selected to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District 3 At-Large First Team.
 
One of the country's top student-athletes, Kuzmenchuk recently earned the NCAA Elite 90 award at the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
 
Kuzmenchuk, who competed on rings, parallel bars and high bar at this year's NCAA Championships, is majoring in international relations and currently carries a 3.98 GPA.
 
As a freshman last season, Kuzmenchuk earned All-ECAC honors on rings and high bar.
 
A two-time W&M Provost Award winner, Kuzmenchuk garnered first-team All-America Scholar-Athlete distinction by the College Gymnastics Association in 2021 and was selected to the ECAC All-Academic Team this year.
 
With his selection to the all-district first team, Kuzmenchuk advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot.
 
The academic all-district at-large teams are comprised of elite student-athletes who compete in bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, wrestling and water polo.
 
Kuzmenchuk is one of just four men's gymnasts in the nation to garner academic all-district distinction.
