RICHMOND, Va. – Graduate student Riley Casey added another accolade to her historic week on the hardwood as the William & Mary guard was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
 
It's the first time Casey has garnered the award and the first for a W&M player this season.
 
At George Mason, last Monday, Casey's game-high 31 points matched a career-high, a mark she set as a sophomore at Columbia. Casey shot 58.8% from the floor and went 5-of-8 from distance.
 
On Sunday afternoon against Army, Casey followed up with yet another 31-point performance on 11-of-22 shooting, including 6-of-9 from behind the 3-point line. She also hit the go-ahead basket with 32 seconds remaining to lift the Green and Gold to a 69-66 victory.
 
Casey's 66.7% from behind the arc in the win matched the third-best single-game performance in W&M history, while she became just the second player in program history to record back-to-back 30-point scoring efforts. Eva Hodgson also hit that mark in consecutive road games during the 2019-2020 season.
 
One of the most accurate shooters in the nation, Casey's 22.5 points per game and 54.5% 3-point shooting percentage currently rank tenth in the country. She leads the CAA in 3-point shooting percentage, 3-point field goals per game (3.6), is second in scoring, and fifth in field-goal percentage (.482).
 
W&M returns to Kaplan Arena on Thursday for a rivalry matchup against interstate foe Richmond. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring brand-new teddy bears or any new, unwrapped toys to donate to the Tribe Holiday Toy Drive. All donations will benefit the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, and any fans who bring in an item will receive a free ticket to a future 2022-23 women's game.
