RICHMOND, Va. — William & Mary senior guard Cassidy Geddes was named to the Preseason All-CAA First Team, while senior guard Monet Dance earned honorable mention honors, the Coastal Athletic Association announced Thursday during its annual media day.

The Tribe was selected fourth in the league's preseason poll, receiving 108 points and one first-place vote from the conference's 13 head coaches.

Geddes earns her third career preseason conference honor after being named to the second team in 2025-26 and receiving honorable mention recognition in 2024-25. The Hickory, N.C., native is coming off a junior campaign in which she earned All-CAA Second Team and CAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors.

Geddes started all 31 games last season, leading the Tribe in scoring at 13.7 points per game, which ranked sixth in the conference. She also averaged 3.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest while recording 58 steals, the fifth most in the CAA. Geddes scored in double figures 21 times, including a team-high seven 20-point performances, and led W&M in scoring on 16 occasions.

The senior also became the 23rd player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, accomplishing the milestone with a 22-point performance in a 61-60 road victory at Hampton on March 7.

Dance receives her first career preseason All-CAA recognition following a junior season in which she started all 31 games and averaged 9.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest.

The Roswell, Ga., native finished second on the team with 104 assists and added 55 steals, with both totals ranking eighth in the CAA. Dance also ranked fifth in the conference with a 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio and recorded 17 double-digit scoring performances, the second most on the team. She earned CAA Player of the Week honors on Dec. 22.

Both Geddes and Dance played key roles in William & Mary's historic 2024-25 season, which saw the Tribe capture its first CAA basketball championship and earn its first NCAA Tournament appearance. Both guards were named to the CAA All-Tournament Team during the championship run.

Monmouth was selected as the conference favorite with 144 points and 12 first-place votes. Elon (116) and Drexel (109) rounded out the top three, followed by William & Mary (108) and Towson (99). N.C. A&T (89), Stony Brook (88), Charleston (71), Hofstra (56), Hampton (51), Northeastern (35), Campbell (30) and UNCW (18) completed the poll.

Monmouth's Gigi Gamble was selected as the CAA Preseason Player of the Year.

Under fifth-year head coach Erin Dickerson Davis, William & Mary returns 11 players from last season's 17-14 squad, including four starters, while welcoming two freshmen. The Tribe finished 9-9 in conference play and advanced to the CAA Championship quarterfinals in 2025-26.

William & Mary opens the 2026-27 season Monday, Nov. 2, against Chowan at Kaplan Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m., with the game airing on FloCollege.
