WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- Four William & Mary volleyball student-athletes were selected to the
College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Graduate student
Taylor Burrell, seniors
Anna Porter and
Kaitlyn Ferguson, and junior
Sabrina Malcolm were honored by the organization.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
The 2022 Academic All‐District® Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second and third‐team Academic All‐ America® honorees will be announced in late December.
Taylor Burrell
Burrell played in 23 matches making 17 starts. The transfer was second on the team with 212 kills, 2.65 per set. Burrell produced 16 service aces and 77 digs over 80 sets played. The outside hitter also produced 28 total blocks and had at least 10 kills in 12 matches this season.
Kaitlyn Ferguson
Ferguson started a pair of matches and played in 21 games over the 2022 year. Ferguson ranked third on the team with 191 kills, 2.42 kills per set. The opposite side hitter produced 36 total blocks and has 132 total blocks over her four-year career. Ferguson had 11 matches with over 10 kills on the season.
Anna Porter
Porter had a career year ranking second in the CAA with 455 total digs, 4.46 per set on her way to being named all-conference. The libero played in all 102 of the Tribe's sets and started each of the team's 26 matches. The senior is sixth in school history with 56 service aces and ranks fourth under the current scoring format with 1,189 career digs.
Sabrina Malcolm
Malcolm started each of the 24 matches she played in 2022 and was tied for first on the team with 80 blocks. The middle blocker had 0.80 blocks per set and smashed 166 kills with a hitting percentage of .265. Also a factor from the service line, Malcolm led the team with 23 aces. Over her three years in the Green and Gold, the Ohio native has produced 150 total blocks and 285 kills.
